Things I want to learn

Maybe it's because I'm done with graduate school and finally finished studying for my boards hopefully (I find out next Thursday if I passed) but I'm excited to learn new things lately. I've also had a lot of free time lately as I look for jobs and drink way too much coffee. Here is my list of things I want to learn more about and get better at doing someday soon.

1. How to use my camera on a setting other than auto. I'm reading this book.

2. Create websites with HTML. I really want to buy this workshop.

3. Edit and create things in Photoshop. I've been watching a ton of tutorials on Photoshop Elements.

4. Make quilts. I'm still working on my first quilt (in the picture below). It's a "quilt as you go" quilt. You can find the tutorial here. I want to make soooo many more already. I'm a little obsessed with triangle quilts.

5. Make better meals. Lately I've been trying to eat as healthy as possible on a budget. Which means I'm eating a lot of grain salads and frozen fruit smoothies. I want to learn more healthy vegetarian recipes and improve my overall kitchen skills.

Feeling lucky

Everything feels like it's up in the air right now. I'm not sure if we'll be moving soon and if we do move, I'm not sure where we'll be headed to exactly. The next few months will definitely bring some changes and I'm sure Philip and I are both going to feel like our lives have been turned upside down but for now I'm trying to enjoy my time at home. I've never gone this long without a job. Although it's nice to have the free time, it's also difficult.

Summer is ending now and I'm trying to enjoy every last minute I have to spend time making elaborate lunches that require a sink full of veggies and going on picnics on a Monday afternoon.  There is a lot to look forward to in the next few months and I'm feeling so lucky to have time to spend with my friends and to be able to take Annie dog to the park every morning. I'm feeling lucky that I've had the last two months to think and come to terms with the fact that we'll be moving again. I really am lucky to have all that I have right now.

I've been adding more veggies back into my diet. I'm back to making fruit smoothies and grain salads.

my favorite smoothie this week:

a handful of frozen strawberries and peaches
a scoop of vanilla protein powder
a cup of almond milk

+ summer night walks
+ espresso cheese
+ snuggle cats
