This week so far | June 30

Happy 4th of July!! Philip and I took Annie for a long and very hot run this morning. Hopefully she'll be too tired to freak out tonight during the fireworks.

This week:

+ Philip and I checked out the farmer's market in our neighborhood and I got a free mini watermelon for spending over $10. win win.

+ I've been working on a small knitted blanket and these are the colors that I'm using for it. It is taking me forever because I keep messing up and taking it all out. I really need to get better at fixing knitting mistakes.

+ Philip hung a tomato and strawberry planter on the balcony. Fingers crossed that they live through the summer.

+ I got a little obsessed with sewing pillow covers this week.

+ I think I ate pizza for 8 out 10 meals this week due to the fact that I was reading this book. I love pizza.

+ Deb and I went for a walk behind her apartment. It was crazy hot but we saw a baby turtle so it was worth it. Also we tried Amy's ice cream for the first time. I had sweet cream with gingersnaps mixed in. We walked around Uncommon Objects together. I love how they organize the items by color.

Project Life Album | June 2014

This month:

I finally took the time to turn in my Pennsylvania license for a Texas license. I got a little sentimental while I was waiting and took a photo of my old license. I had to make two trips to the DMV that day because I forgot my car insurance forms, when I got back and was waiting to be called, I couldn't find my old license and thought I might have dropped it when I ran home to get the rest of my paperwork.  It was in my pocket. Oh, how I love the exciting adventures of moving to a new state, they never seem to end.

making goals

I have so many goals in my head all the time. I'm constantly making lists of goals for myself. Something about writing goals down on a list really motivates me to start working on them. There is so much that I want to learn about right now and I've been overwhelmed.  It really helps when I make lists and keep a planner to help me to sort through all the details of getting started on a project. I'm going to keep it simple and only make five goals to work on over the next few months.

The Goals:

1. learn more about Photoshop
2. design my website
3. use my massive collection of fabric to make things
4. learn more about web design
5. print the hundreds of photos I have and make an album

The Plan:

1. I'm going to work on classes about photoshop on skillshare. I'm currently working on this class.

2. Hopefully once I improve my photoshop and coding skills I'll be able to design an amazing website for myself.

3. I just need to pull out my fabric collection and get to work sewing!

4. I'm going to join treehouse to help me improve my design skills. I love that you can learn so much online while sitting in your living room with a cat on your lap.

5. I have most of my old photos organized so I just need to print them and start making an album

I'm sure it is going to take me some time for me to accomplish all these but just having them written down makes me feel better.

+ homemade pizza dinner
+ knitting

New Adventures

A lot has been changing around here lately and it has been difficult to keep up. I'm trying to go with the flow and take one thing at a time. I like when life is slow and things are simple. I'd love to spend more time doing nothing and going nowhere. Sometimes I just need everything to slow down. At times, I can push myself too much and put a lot of pressure on myself to measure up to expectations that I created. I'm trying to let that go. I'm trying to accept myself and move on. Sometimes you just can't do it all. Sometimes you have to stop and take a moment to relax. I'm trying that out right now.

Time flies

Well, we left Pittsburgh. It was a crazy last few days of packing and shrink wrapping all of our stuff. Bethany came over to help me load our uhaul truck and spend my last day in Pittsburgh with me. I don't know what I would have done without her. It was not of a fun day. I was feeling unsure about leaving Pennsylvania. I loved living within driving distance to my family and I finally felt like I knew how to get around that place. sort of.

Annie right before we left our old apartment. She was not sure about moving either.
The trip to Austin was kind of stressful. I think it was combo of being freaking tired from packing and having to drive in separate cars the whole way there. It was just me and the pet family. This picture is lucy cat snoozing in the front seat. There were definitely some cat fights over that coveted spot.

Highlights of the roadtrip:

+ got to visit Rachel in her new apartment
+ listened to a lot of Joy the Baker
+ Philip being my navigation hero when the road was suddenly closed. in Tennessee. in the middle of the night.
+ finally finding a motel that allowed cats in Arkansas
+ crossing the Mississippi river at sunset

Deb and Bill were there to help us move in to the new apartment the moment we arrived. Being the awesome amazing friends that they are. We moved everything into the apartment in no time at all. Things seemed to be moving right along. Then we spent move time in our new place and it sucked.

Not great.

So, we moved again. Not too far away to another much better apartment. It was a long few days but we did it.

Finally things are starting to feel a little settled here. We're in the new apartment and all of our boxes are unpacked. We're starting to learn our way around our new neighborhood and explore Austin. I started my new job here and Philip is lining up interviews. I can't believe how much has changed already and it is only our third week here.

+ new adventures
+ gold glitter
+ strong coffee

Project Life Week 41

I got my first Project Life album in the mail! I have wanted to buy an album for months but I've been putting it off due to, you know, unemployment. Philip got it for me last week and I couldn't wait for it to arrive in the mail. When I spotted the giant Amazon box at the bottom of the stairs I ran to get it and open it immediately. In my excitement to tear into the box I sliced the top of my new album. womp. womp. So later in the week I bought a pack of inspirational stickers (haha) and covered up the slash mark. Ta Da!

I got the Seafoam album and I love it. The color looks darker in this photo but it is a beautiful album and makes me love my project life photos even more. I'm a little excited about it to say the least.

Since I got my first project life kit a few weeks ago ( the kraft edition), I decided to make my album cover page.
